Last Monday was a sad day for Sportbike Track Gear’s Brian Van last Monday–he had to watch his baby drive away in the back of a pickup truck and head to its new home in Texas! But everyone at Sportbike Track Gear was very excited that the winner of STG’s Project Bike Giveaway was able to make the trip to Michigan and pick the bike up in person.
The winner is James Bryant from Portland, Texas and he currently rides on both the street and the track. We know the project bike is going to a good home and cannot wait to hear James’ feedback once he is able to take the decked-out 2012 Yamaha YZF-R1 out on the track!

The STG Project Bike Giveaway promotion was announced in February and ran through the end of October, with the winner being selected at random. Brian Van started with a stock R1 and throughout the year transformed the beast into the perfect track weapon. He completed all of the installation on camera and walks viewers through the process in a video that be found on the STG YouTube channel.
In addition to working on the bike, Brian Van rode it throughout the season and was able to improve his riding and achieve better lap times than ever! Check out one of the GoPro videos Van took while riding the Project Bike at Grattan Raceway:
The giveaway was a new concept for STG. Anyone could enter, but customers received additional entries for orders placed with the company throughout the year.
A decision hasn’t been completely made on the plans for 2014, but rest assured you will see a video from Brian Van announcing any new sale or promotion.
You can stay up to date by signing up for the STG newsletter, subscribing to the YouTube channel and following STG’s Facebook Page and other social media sites.
Brian Van and STG would like to thank all the partners involved in the project; Graves Motorsports, Woodcraft Technologies, Driven USA, Ohlins and WitchKraft Motorsports, Bazzaz, Spiegler and Ballistic Performance Components. With the help and partnership of our great vendors, Brian Van was able to build, ride and give away an awesome track bike this season!
